Meeting called to a close at 8:10pm
Dear Neighbors,
I sincerely hope every AHCA member will attend the
7 PM, Tues. 11/14/23, AHCA meeting at Susie Lewis’s house, 1719 E. Jamison Place,
because, the preliminary 2024 budget will be presented and discussed, approval to be voted on at the January meeting, where Board members are also to be elected.
To prevent a repeat of 2023’s-
collection of 15 months membership dues for a 12 month period, (a violation of the By-Laws),
30% of the social budget being spent directly on the entertainment of about a dozen children,
80% of the Fall Fest budget being spent on children’s entertainment,
dropping of a formerly annual social event from the AHCA calendar-
you must attend and review the proposed budget and offer comments and vote for what you want.
Hopefully that will include –
12 mos. dues for a 12 month year, (per the By-Laws)
a reasonable percentage of the social budget for the entertainment of children,
and restoring a budget for the traditional spring Bob Stephens BBQ social event, held to welcome new residents and honor our AHCA traditions.
The draft budget will be voted on at the January meeting, where we also elect our new board for 2024. Please keep in mind that because, in June 2022, the fiscal year was changed in the By-Laws, to end 12/31, instead of 3/31, everyone who wants to vote for the budget approval, or for Board members, or anything else, will have to pay their dues for 2024 at or prior to the January AHCA meeting, per the By-Laws.
Also, since the Sept. minutes indicate a more than adequate surplus to do so, perhaps part of the surplus could be used to reimburse the extra three months dues paid by all who paid $75 dues this spring.
Good questions to ask at the Nov. meeting –
Why wasn’t the 2023 budget, approved at the May meeting, provided to all members, as required by the By-Laws?
Why have the members not been made aware of the quarterly 2023 financial statements required by the By-Laws?
It’s our money, we should have our say in how it is spent and be kept aware of how it is being spent, per the By-Laws.
I hope to see you all there. Lila Greaves
